Web/AIR Benefits
Our product leverages Adobe’s Flex framework, Adobe Integrated Runtime (AIR) environment, and state of the art programming systems to give users rich multimedia features and collaboration via the Web accessed with a desktop application outside the browser.
For our users (children with autism and their teachers, parents and clinicians) this leading edge technology simply means double-click access off the desktop to a powerful tool for creating visual language lessons which can then be either printed for desktop use or played interactively on computers or SmartBoards.
AIR is the wave of the future, and you will find many of your favorite web applications (such as EBay, AOL and Nickelodeon, to name a few) using it to enhance their services. Some of the benefits of AIR are immediate-like the ease and speed of launching the program by clicking on an icon on your desktop, or the removal of the temptation of web-browsing by students doing lessons. Some will allow us to develop awesome new features in future-like dragging and dropping media from your desktop right into a lesson, or using supports and lessons offline, or building your own library of content for your organization’s use.
The AIR platform allows us to retain all the benefits of a Web application. Users can access their folders, files and downloads from any computer connected to the web—any time, any where. So pictures uploaded at home can be accessed for lessons created at school with no porting back and forth on a stick.
And the Web allows us to provide our users with seamless updates and product enhancements as part of the basic subscription. With an ambitious road-map for product development and expansion (including NIH funded modules soon to be released), our users will always have access to continuously updated leading-edge interventions.
